We cover interiors, lighting, outdoor living, and the objects that make a room feel right — across the US and Europe, with one point of view. No trend chasing. No everything-guides. No filler. Just the pieces we’d actually live with.
Who’s behind it
List No. 5 is edited from Paris by two American sisters. We moved here years ago, kept our American shopping instincts, and picked up a European eye for what to leave out.
We feature pieces across the full range — the everyday finds and the splurges worth saving for. The filter is the same either way: the right proportions, the restraint, one saturated color instead of five.
A room comes together when every piece earns its place.
What a List No. 5 room looks like
Warm neutrals. Considered materials — travertine, thermally modified oak, linen, plaster, unlacquered brass. One saturated color per room, not five. Light that’s low and warm, never bright and overhead. Enough negative space that the pieces can breathe.
What we cover
We organize everything around the way people actually design a room — not by category or price tier, but by mood. Organic Modern for the sculptural and the quiet. Kitchens for the architectural and the editorial. Good Light for lamps and pendants that do real work. Farm Cottage for the warm, the collected, the lived-in. Sunday Edit for the small objects that make a home. Outdoor for everything that holds up to weather and company.
How we choose
Every piece on List No. 5 gets asked the same questions. Does it hold up in a real room, not just a photographed one? Would we actually put it in our own homes? Is it worth the money against its closest alternative? If the answer to any of those is no, it doesn’t make the list.
